Our Latest Updates

In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.
That idea lives here too. In 2021 Lonesome Pine Office on Youth brought the Imagination Library to Southwest Virginia. Now we help inspire a love of reading to children here in Lee, Wise and Norton, across Virginia and around the world. Every month, 1,843 children in Lee and Wise Counties and Norton City find a book in the mailbox. Since 2021, children in our communities have received 66,136 books— because of neighbors who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN who started it all.
Thank you, Dolly. We will always love you.
