This is what it looks like to #GiveLikeDolly.

In thousands of communities across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and Republic of Ireland, children receive a free book every month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Dolly has inspired a love of reading to children across the world.

That idea lives here too. In 2021 Lonesome Pine Office on Youth brought the Imagination Library to Southwest Virginia. Now we help inspire a love of reading to children here in Lee, Wise and Norton, across Virginia and around the world. Every month, 1,957 children in Lee and Wise Counties and Norton City find a book in their mailbox. Since 2021, children in our communities have received 71,461 books, 1381 children have graduated the program meaning they started school a little ahead of the game. All because of neighbors who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN who started it all.

Behind every book is a community of people who believe in the power of giving—our donors, volunteers, local partners and supporters who help make this program possible.

Today, September 25, Give Like Dolly Day, you can help us reach even more children and families in our community. Every gift helps us continue building a community where children can grow up surrounded by the joy of books and reading.
